Rubber Matting Reduces Horse Bedding Costs

Julia Latham and husband Dave travel and work regularly in Europe and decided to go for a rubber matting floor system in their new facility after looking at several different complexes off-shore.

“The horses are happy to lie on the rubber matting, which eliminates the need for straw or sawdust. We simply rake off the manure, sweep the matting, and power wash it. It only takes around 40 minutes to clean the entire complex immaculately.”

“We did quite a bit of research before deciding on the Numat’s Kura system. We liked the fact it was European-designed and everyone spoke so highly of Numat.”

Kura is hard-wearing, comfortable for the horses, and easy to clean.

The purpose-designed 220sqm facility at Flying Horse incorporates a large wash-down bay with hot and cold showers for the horses; five “huge” 4.5m x 4.5m loose boxes and a big walkway.

“It was quite a challenging job over a large area, with 23 posts to work around and each box individually chambered to allow us to wash them down individually. However, Numat were brilliant to deal with and the installation went perfectly.”

The system significantly reduces bedding costs and saves dramatically on maintenance time.
