NumatAGRI’s Kura Mats at Clifford Park Racecourse

Clifford Park, located in Toowoomba, within the Darling Downs region, hosts 46 race meetings annually and is a significant training center for about 600 horses each month. The venue, under the watchful eye of John Rutherford, the Venue Manager, sought to enhance the safety and functionality of their stable alleys where precision and the welfare of the equine athletes are paramount.

“The existing rubbers we used were very difficult to secure,” explains Rutherford. “They slipped down the embankments, causing horses to trip over the edges.”

With the implementation of NumatAGRI’s Kura mats, Clifford Park found a solution to these dangerous slippages. “Numat’s Kura was the most logical choice for us… because of its interlocking system,” Rutherford states, emphasizing the importance of stability in the high-traffic areas.

“Very happy with the product… I would certainly recommend it in any sort of facility where equine is involved.”

The installation process was straightforward and efficient. “The only areas that we needed to secure were the outer edges,” says Rutherford, noting the ease of setup provided by NumatAGRI’s design. This simplicity extended to the maintenance of the mats. “Cleaning of it is very easy,” he adds, “with no edges or joins with the way it interlocks, not a lot of foreign material gets underneath.”

Rutherford speaks to the future applications of the product: “As we go forward… we will look to utilize the product and various products in their range.” This is a testament to the confidence that Clifford Park has developed in the Kura mats’ quality and effectiveness.

“Very happy with the product… I would certainly recommend it in any sort of facility where equine is involved,” Rutherford concludes.
